Ard Neakie is connected to the mainland only by a cord of sand linking it to the east shore of Loch Eriboll. It once had a large limestone quarry and four lime kilns were built here from 1840. The Reay estate that owned the kilns exported lime from the adjacent quay. The four kilns were built as pairs at different times. The southern pair has semicircular draw arches, and smaller shafts than the northern pair, which has segmental draw arches. All four have oval shaped pots. The kilns are a scheduled Ancient Monument.
